Incredible false argument by Shafiqah. It was she and the liberal Muslims who are hypocrites and now in order to cover their indefensible position they blame the Muslims. Merepek betul.
Please be informed that at all times it was the liberal Muslims who promote a right of free speech without restriction. In their condemnation of the sedition act, they have always called that one has an unrestricted right of free speech that one can even insult anyone or any religion whatsoever so long as there’s no physical threat of harm. No security interest can undermine this and they even promoted a law in such manner. (see NUCC draft laws). This is their much publicized principles. Not us. Not the many Muslims. It was theirs.
And now when the freedom of speech is being curtailed by police on whom they don’t like or a topic they don’t like or the religion discourse they don’t like, they use all sort of excuses to validate the restriction on freedom of speech. They allege Zakir Naik supported Al qaedah lah. The topic is not suitable lah in our society. They know that all these are not valid reasons for curtailment. And so this Shafiqah now takes a step further by blaming Muslims on principles they never allege as such. Simply ridiculous.
Our position has always been that we don’t dictate other religious practices or doctrines. We oppose outsiders who dictate that Islam should be interpreted according to their worldview. We thus condemn Eric Paulsen dictating what a khutbah should be. We thus condemn those who belittle our aurat requirement. And we likewise do the same by not condemning publicly other religion. Thus we don’t condemn or criticise how Christians conduct their sermons or how Buddhists or Hindu should carry out their rites. We respect that. We are willing to live and let live.
But it doesn’t mean that within ourselves we don’t have a view of other religion. We keep it within the Muslims community. Just like the followers of other religion or belief. We know they have many negative views of Islam as evidenced in many social media commentaries. In fact we are not even half agressive as others who openly criticise condemn and insult Islam. They have gone to insult our prophet, desecrate our Quran etc. That’s never been our culture.
Now Zakir Naik is conducting a ceramah agama for the Muslims. It’s not carried live. (Some non Muslims apparently join it on their own free will.) And it’s on the same topic which has been much publicized on YouTube. He doesn’t insult other religion. It was civil. Shafiqah and the liberal Muslims know this. Her problem is that she can’t find a good reason to justify the curtailment and so now resort to this underhand false argument.
We know this. So many among us has thus call on her and her liberal friends’ hypocrisy of freedom of speech. It’s their principles. At all time ours was freedom of speech subject to certain restrictions. By calling her to stick to her and her friends’ so call principle doesn’t mean we are hypocrites. It’s she and the liberals who are hypocrites’ spinning hatred against other Muslims. So stop this racist daft imbecilic accusation Shafiqah. We all know you’re dishonestly using a false premise argument.

Liberalism, pluralism and whatever ‘ism’ is a dirty word in Malaysia, just because the Muslims in power says it is so (just like the Bible issue, ok in East Malaysia not ok in Peninsula Malaysia, laughable) for political convenience, expediency and to strike down the other Muslims political groups that are a political danger to their survival.

After reading your comment above, I think I have to respond to yours for the benefit of Muslims and non-Muslims.
Islam is the only perfectly complete religion according to Allah:
This day I have perfected for you your religion and completed My favor upon you and have approved for you Islam as religion. Qur’an 5:3
We the Muslims accept Islam with all of our heart because Islam is the only perfectly complete religion so Islam does not need any religious reform.
The so-called ‘Liberal Muslims’ @ the hypocrites are insulting their own minds and intelligence by trying to reform the perfectly complete religion. By trying to reform the the perfectly complete religion, the hypocritical ‘Liberal Muslims’ have clearly contradicted the command of Allah and the Prophet Muhammad ([peace and blessing be upon him).
We reject all the man-made ideologies because they have flaws s so they are not perfectly complete ideologies.
And Allah the Most High says ”And whoever desires other than Islam as religion – never will it be accepted from him, and he, in the Hereafter, will be among the losers”. (Qur’an 3:85)
Based on Qur’an 3:85, the so-called ‘Liberal Muslims’ will be among the losers in the hereafter.
Why do I say that the so-called ‘Liberal Muslims’ will be among the losers in the hereafter?
By saying that Islam needs religious reform, the so-called ‘Liberal Muslims’ mean directly or indirectly that Islam is not the perfectly complete religion. This means they have disputed the command of Allah and His messenger and rejected Qur’an 5:3 etc .
The so-called ‘liberal Muslims’ are trying to undermine Islam and confuse ignorant or naive Muslims by propagating ideas such as Pluralism, Liberalism etc that deviate from the true teachings of Islam, casting doubt on the purity of the Quran, disputing Islamic laws, questioning the methodology used in interpreting the Quran and the Hadith, calling for a new interpretation on worship and disputing the criteria and character for prophets etc.
Therefore, Liberal Muslims are the hypocrites who are making an outward display of Islam whilst inwardly concealing kufr and actively seeking to undermine Islam and the Muslim community.
Surah Al-Munafiqun (The Hypocrites)
1. When the hypocrites come to you (O Muhammad ), they say: “We bear witness that you are indeed the Messenger of Allah.” Allah knows that you are indeed His Messenger and Allah bears witness that the hypocrites are liars indeed.
2. They have made their oaths a screen (for their hypocrisy). Thus they hinder (men) from the Path of Allah. Verily, evil is what they used to do.
3. That is because they believed, then disbelieved, therefore their hearts are sealed, so they understand not.
